The buildings of the Hasso Plattner Institute are conceived as an architectural ensemble. Four free-standing units, each with its own individual charisma, are joined as a compositionally well-balanced whole. The space between the houses, the wooden platform, functions as a connecting element and “market-place” in one.

The materials and colours of the new buildings respond to the environment. Greenish-brown sheet copper and warm natural wood create a relationship with the surrounding landscape. In terms of materials and shape, the building is an exponent of self-confident, contemporary architecture.
