The Library Center Building as the „memory of the world“ is based on the preservation of the urban, architectural and artistic past. The historic character of the district and its urban structure are to be preserved. Glacier-like, the new extension to the library meanders between the existing buildings like a blue-white sparkling sculpture. The existing topography is to be incorporated as part of the project concept. The overcoming of high levels will be the theme.
Partially-inclined plateau levels playfully climb to the topmost floor, exhibiting the frozen dynamic of a glacier-flow. Generous, coherent areas with few columns enable the clear and unrestricted furnishing of individual zones. A loop-way leads the visitor through the space-continuum of the Library Center.
