The new building for the comprehensive school in Bergstedt was erected on the area of a former paddock, right on the verge of a protected bio-tope. The surroundings have an accordingly  scenic character. The school building, incorporated in this scheme of things, is situated on the north-easternmost corner of the site in order to create a maximum of free space and maintain distance from the conservation area.
Both wings of the classroom building protectively enclose the assembly hall and the lunch room. Positioned in the heart of the complex, these meeting points are easy to reach for pupils and teachers alike. The south and west sides of the building open onto the countryside and the playground areas are embedded in this environment with all due consideration for it.

The caretaker’s residence is attached directly to the school building, whereas the gym, which is shared with a neighboring school, can be reached via a short footpath.
