Leuchtfeuer's most important goal was to build a hospice for the critically ill. This permanent nursing facility for AIDS victims was intended to provide short-term care as well as an alternative to patients staying in hospital or at home.
The central section of the old building exhibited the original texture – a facade consisting of highly ornamented brickwork, albeit effaced by weathering or damage, the tile-work having been plastered over. Two lateral single-storey buildings were torn down and rebuilt as part of the entire construction work as three-storey components.
The new buildings are of brick with a thermal plaster façade. The curb-roof is covered with titanium zinc sheet metal. On the whole, in terms of form and colour, the appearance of the entire building has been preserved.
